NOTE:
Duty Positions change during the SOBC FTX.
The SOBC FTX is held the second to last week of the course (the last
week is reserved for out-processing). Your instructor will assign a new Platoon leader for each day of the FTX.
It is up to the platoon leader to assign each day's platoon sergeant and
squad leaders.
TACTICAL SITE:
The convoy will stop outside the tactical site and pull off the road
into a wishbone formation. At this point, everyone will dismount and
take on their pre-assigned positions.
The security team will fan out on both sides of the road and take cover.
They will lay in the prone and keep an eye out for any OPFOR.
The NBC team and the site security team will go forward to check the site
for any NBC materials and to secure the site for the vehicles to enter.
The leadership will also conduct a recon of the site and decide on vehicle
placement.
After the site is deemed NBC-free, everyone will get back into the vehicles
and drive into the site. The A/442 soldiers will already know where to
park the vehicles and start setup.
You will now have to set up all the vehicles, antennas, tents, and conduct
security patrols. The A/442 soldiers will guide you through this
process. This should take the rest of the morning. During your
free time this morning, you will eat your scrumptious MRE.
After the site is setup, everyone will rotate through the different vehicles
to get a closer look. Security patrols will continue to patrol the
perimeter of the site. The A/442 soldiers will give short classes on
the different vans, and attempt to set up a link with the site back
on Fort Gordon. The students will continue to do the grunt work around
the site at the direction of the A/442 soldiers. Students will keep
the generators fueled, carry equipment around, etc. For dinners and
breakfasts, a vehicle will travel back to Fort Gordon to pickup food at a
dining facility.
That afternoon, half the platoon will head out with two vehicles to a remote
site to set up a remote station. Setting up the remote site will again
involve an NBC team, site security, and a leader's recon.
Students will sleep out in the field, and will be kept up most of the night
by OPFOR. Keep your protective mask ready, as there will be a lot of
tear gas canisters flying around.
The following day, the vehicle classes will continue. The second half
of the platoon will head out to the remote site during this afternoon.
The following morning, the platoon will leave the tactical site and head to
the nonntactical site on Fort Gordon.
