TDY
Prepare your TDY forms (receipts, travel
voucher, etc.) in advance and travel
voucher PHOTOCOPY EVERYTHING. If they lose your forms (and
they do), you can just turn in your complete packet. If they pay you
incorrectly (and they always do), you have something to support your
arguments. It's a little bit of a hassle, but definitely worth your
time.
Volunteer Hours
You're supposed to volunteer 24 hours of your time during OBC.
A good way to earn some of these hours is to DD. Just document when
you've been the designated driver and you can say goodbye to half your
hours. Other volunteer ideas include Habitat for Humanity, various
walks along the Riverwalk (ie walk for heart disease), and babysitting
classmate's kids. And one last thing--they won't stop you from
graduating if you don't get all 24 hours. That's just another idle
army threat.
Driving on Post
You're on a military post--of course the speeds are ridiculously
slow and the cops are a'holes. But that doesn't mean they will take
your license away if you speed anywhere on post (again, another idle army
threat). They do have the authority to take your license away, but
only in TROOP AREAS such as parking lots and on the main road between the
parking lots and the classrooms.
Photocopying
Don't waste your time (and money) photocopying things at the
library. Go to Kinko's (located in the shopping center along Robert
C.Daniel Pkwy).
Printers
Printers are great. You won't have to worry about finding a way to
print up slides or travel vouchers.
Slides
Speaking of slides, make sure you print the slideshows before class so
you have something to take notes on. It makes taking notes a lot
easier.
