Don't just sit back and watch the time go by.  Augusta is located in the heart of the Southeast, so grab a buddy and take a road trip.  You don't have homework (and trust me, you don't need to study) so there isn't any reason to stick around for a weekend.

If you think you want to stay in Augusta to check out the city--don't bother.  You'll eventually have a weekend where you don't have a place to go and you'll be able to see Augusta at that time.

Here are the best places to go.

Other Good Trips:

Ocoee River (Chattanooga)

Take a trip to the Ocoee River for some whitewater rafting fun (they have climbing too).  This makes a great overnight camping trip from Augusta.  For more information, visit the OAR website.

where to stay:
In a tent!

what to do: Navigate the white waters of the Ocoee river, the site of the 1996 Olympic kayak events.  If you are a climber, they have rock climbing and rapelling as well.

other: Party with the locals at their local bar on the road to the campsite.  This barn features a live band, foosball tables, and barefoot yokels.  Make sure you bring a cooler of your own beer because this bar closes early (Bible belt strikes again).  Visit the other campsites in your area, you might run into a fraternity/sorority camping trip.

$: This trip is cheap.  The camping is cheap, the rafting is cheap, and the local bar is cheap.

Destin/Fort Walton Beach

Destin is one of the nicest areas of the Florida panhandle, with beautiful white sand beaches and a fun beach atmosphere.

where to stay:
Priceline a hotel room.

where to go: Bars and clubs dot the coastline, take your pick.

what to do: Go to the beach.  What else would you go there for?  You can also SCUBA dive, eat some good seafood, and go shopping at one of the outlet malls in the area.

$$: This is a touristy beach area, so you will have to pay to eat and drink in the tourist trap restaurants and bars you find.

Panama City

Panama City is a featured Spring Break destination every year, and for good reason.  This town is fun.

where to stay:
Priceline a hotel room along the main strip.

where to go: Broadway at the Beach.

what to do: Eat seafood, go to the clubs (Club La Vila is the largest club in the US and a former MTV Spring Break site), and go to the beach.

$: Except for maybe your hotel room (they jack up the prices) everything is cheap.

Other Ideas: I haven't been to these places, but keep these in mind when planning a road trip.
